Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…
About the book
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall… is a children’s book for ages 6 to 10 that explores self-image, social identity, and the challenges of growing up in a world full of comparisons. The story follows Luna, a creative 7-year-old Black girl with curly hair, who starts to feel different at school after being teased for her looks. Wanting to fit in, she tries to act like Sofia, the popular classmate everyone admires.
One night, Luna meets a magical talking mirror that takes her on a journey into the fears and insecurities of other children—including Sofia and Leo, a classmate who’s bullied for wearing glasses. Through this experience, Luna realizes that everyone struggles with self-doubt and that being herself is not only enough—it’s powerful.
With simple, accessible language and relatable situations, the book encourages children to reflect on who they are, how they see others, and why being authentic matters. It includes interactive pages, creative exercises, and guided prompts for discussions about bullying, diversity, and emotional awareness, making it a helpful tool for families and educators.

Sing Along
[Verse 1]
One day Luna heard them mock,
Her curly hair, the way it rocked.
They called her “little lion’s mane,”
Laughed at her color, brought her pain.
[Verse 2]
She wished that she could be like Sofia,
Fair and smooth, full of euphoria.
She mimicked her clothes, her walk, her tone,
But deep inside felt all alone.
[Chorus]
Then the mirror began to glow,
And Luna’s dreams began to flow.
She saw that even smiles can hide,
The fears and scars we hold inside.
[Verse 3]
Inside the mirror, Leo appeared,
With giant glasses, often feared.
But in his chest, a lion roared,
With courage he had long ignored.
[Verse 4]
Sofia, too, showed her disguise,
Of silent doubts and tearful eyes.
Luna, then, with heart so wide,
Saw everyone hurts deep inside.
[Final Chorus]
Being different is a superpower,
Luna shines like a blooming flower!
Curls that dance, eyes full of light,
Made by love — she’s born to shine bright!
